Overview & Visitor Experience
Constructed by Portuguese conquistador Afonso de Albuquerque in 1511, A Famosa is among the oldest surviving European architectural relics in Southeast Asia. Today, the Porta de Santiago gatehouse stands at the foot of St. Paul's Hill (Bukit San Paulo), where the ruins of the 1521 St. Paul's Church and the statue of St. Francis Xavier look out over the Malacca Strait.

Walk 3 minutes south from Dutch Square / The Stadthuys in Bandar Hilir.
Accessibility & Facilities
Ground level gatehouse is accessible. Ascending St. Paul's Hill requires stair climbing.
